“三棵生命树表示种在三种不同土壤的根秘续，三枝主根长出九颗不同的树干，因此总共有三支树根，九棵树干，四十七根枝叶、两百二十四片树叶、两朵花和三颗果实。”俄尖指着这三张图分别解释说：
第一棵生命树为人体的生理功能和病理变化。树喻：一个树根两棵树杆描绘正常生理和病理变化。第一棵树杆描绘健康身体的生理机能。它由“三大因素”树枝，七种物质树枝，三种排泄物树枝等三个树枝来讲述人体的生理功能。第二棵树干是病理之杆，他的树叶象征各种不同的疾病。第一个树枝是表示病根的树枝，病因它说明人的内心的痛苦烦恼和生理的不适都是由人的无明和贪、嗔、痴等情绪的困扰所导致。缘起第二个树枝是说明气候、饮食、行为和心理等次要因素，如何造成人体能量物质的增减而影响健康。第三个树枝是表示发病途径的树枝。所有疾病最终的两种状态：(热症和寒症)。
第二棵生命树为藏医的诊断方法。树喻：一个树根三枝树杆描绘诊断。第一棵树杆“望诊之杆”先观察人的整体的肤色、形体、精神状况。更细节的就是树叶中所描绘查看患者的舌体舌苔，尿液颜色等，藏医通过对尿液观察鉴别诊断寒热方面独树一帜。第二棵树杆“触诊之杆”藏医称为脉诊。就是根据接触脉相诊断疾病的性质、预测患者预测死亡时间和腹中胎儿的性别等等。第三棵树杆“问诊之杆”是医生询问患者病因、病源、患病部位、何时及何种饮食起居会使疾病加重恶化等特征，问诊是三诊中最重要的一种诊断方法。
